Similar to a crown, a veneer can also serve as a corrective measure for discolored, cracked, chipped, or worn teeth. A veneer is a special thin laminate that can also be used to narrow large gaps between teeth, as well as reverse years of staining on teeth caused by tobacco, coffee, or soft drinks. Stronger and longer-lasting veneers made of porcelain are bonded to the tooth.
Bonding can also be used to achieve similar results, but the results will not last as long. In bonding, an enamel-like material is applied to the tooth. It is then shaped, hardened, and polished to look like a natural tooth.
