Here is What You Should Know"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" class=\"wp-image-12\" style=\"width: 575px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AdobeStock_112952080.jpeg\" alt=\"family embracing on sofa\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AdobeStock_112952080.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AdobeStock_112952080-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AdobeStock_112952080-768x513.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>Many Floridians and people across the country have taken a hiatus from regular dental checkups in the nearly two years since the coronavirus first reared its ugly head in the U.S. As infection rates fall and people return to some semblance of normal, many are not sure what to expect when they schedule their first dentist visits since the \u201cbefore times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/2022\/02\/01\/dentist-office-teeth-patients-pandemic\/\">recent article<\/a> from the Washington Post highlights much of what we have seen from returning patients at Pearl White: Plaque and tartar buildup that can be fairly easily removed but which poses a serious risk to oral health if not addressed and teeth cracking and other damage caused by stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe pandemic has altered people\u2019s routines in ways that have negatively affected their teeth,\u201d the Post\u2019s Ashley Fetters Maloy reports. \u201cWorking from home, many are snacking more, forgoing brushing in the morning and falling asleep before brushing at night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dentists also told the Post that they are also seeing more patients coming in with broken or damaged teeth. That may be because of stress stemming from the pandemic, which often results in teeth clenching and grinding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s just, like, a perfect storm,\u201d one dentist said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That many people chose to forgo regular dentist visits during the pandemic is completely understandable. The sooner you come in for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/checkups-and-cleanings.html\">checkup<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/dental-cleaning.html\">cleaning<\/a>, however, the more likely we can prevent long-term damage whether it is from plaque buildup or teeth grinding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some patients who have not seen a dentist in multiple years may need a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pearlwhitedentistry.com\/deep-dental-cleaning.html\">deep dental cleaning<\/a> to address decay and combat gum disease.
